The fight against violent boozers

chalkieI AM inspired by Dr. Tim Hawkes, principal of The King’s School in Sydney, who has taken a strong stand against alcohol fuelled violence in the community.

He decided to tackle this major social issue following the death of a former student, the victim of an unprovoked attack by a drunken thug on a city street, while walking with his girlfriend. The young man didn’t even see who or what hit him.

A school in tune like an orchestra

I say a school is like an orchestra, when everyone is working in harmony and playing their part the music is sweet. But, when there is dysfunction in one part, the sound is completely off key.

School camp is not a holiday

chalkieNEXT time I have the pleasure of attending a school camp I must remember to clock off at 4pm and enjoy the free time.

Maybe head to the beach for a leisurely swim, enjoy a latte, or catch up on some reading. Well, that is what Dr Jim Watterston of the School Education Group believes teachers do on camp.
